Hello everyone!!!
What an adventurous week we had! We didn't have too many crazy things other than normal missionary work! We were able to meet with this awesome potential we had but sadly she had to go to Ontario to get away from an abusive ex-boyfriend! He ended up charging her for assault after he came and started putting their stuff in his truck and pushed her and her ring ended up scratching him so she spent Friday morning in jail so decided to move back to her home in Ontario but she is so golden! She is staying in touch with us and she asked how to get ahold of missionaries in Ontario so she can learn about the gospel! We were sad she was leaving but it is better this way! We only met her a few times but instantly had this love for her! It was interesting to have such a great love for someone that you have the desire to just take everything they are going through all the bad in their life upon you. It just helped me to understand how much love Christ had for us to do that for each and everyone of his brothers and sisters! She is so great!
We also decided to save on K's to take the bus all day on Saturday. . . . it definitely took me back to my Vancouver days! But there aren't as many buses here in Nanaimo and Saturdays they don't run as much! We only took 4 buses and walked the rest of the way from one end of Nanaimo to the other! It was so hot too and we only could carry one water bottle with us so we got a little heat stroke but nothing too bad! We had a fun adventure and had a fun time!
We also had another Cottage meeting in a park this Sunday! It was lots of fun! Me and my companion made banana muffins from scratch (we had a million bananas in our freezers, they go bad really fast here) so we played a few activities and it was lots of fun! It was really good to have some non members there too! The only bad part was there was a few homeless people around, some asked us for money because someone stole their blankets so we gave them muffins instead.
Life as a missionary is definitely a one of a kind experience! I have loved every minute of it and even though it is challenging and really hard sometimes each moment has taught me something and has brought me closer to my Savior. I couldn't have asked for a better place or time to be on a mission! I have seen so many miracles and met so many wonderful people that it makes every trial and low parts worth it! I was able to learn a lot about the importance of having the spirit with us and following it. We have seen so many miracles as we have been able to follow the spirit and sometimes use our brains (God gave them to us for a reason) to be able to do his work! The spirit is so important to so many things! We all have different ways we feel the spirit but it is because we have the spirit that we know that God is there, Jesus Christ is our Savior and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's restored gospel on the earth again today! It is the one thing that connects us to the rest of the Godhead and is so essential to our salvation. As we follow the spirit and do everything we can to have it with us we will be able to have Christ in our lives more fully and be able to endure to the end and live with our Father in Heaven and families again! I hope you all have an amazing week! Love you all!
Love,
Sister Heaton
