Its almost time! Only 2 more days until I am on my way home! It has been crazy trying to get everything ready to come home. It still hasn't hit me that I am just about done with my mission and about to come home. On Saturday I said goodbye to companion and rode the ferry all by myself back to the mainland. It was really scary being all alone but I guess it was good practice. Once I reached the mainland I was picked up by some senior missionaries and taken to the mission office in Richmond. They switched up some things because President had to leave Canada to go to a conference in Utah before we all left so I ended up having my exit interview on Saturday afternoon.
It was so great seeing all the missionaries I came with and be with my MTC companion again. We spend sometime waiting for everyone to get through their exit interviews and even took some time to go street contacting while we waited. We were given a car so all us sister missionaries going home could get around. Once all the interviews were done we headed to the mission presidents home for our farewell dinner. We watched a video of all our experiences with pictures from our missions we sent in and had an amazing dinner. Once we finished dinner, we had a testimony meeting where we all got to share our experiences and our testimonies. I was the very first person to stand up and share my testimony. The spirit was so powerful, hearing all these missionaries that served 18 months or 2 years and how we had grown from the beginning to now.
Once the meeting was over it was way past our curfew but we got in car, which was actually a van to an apartment for all us sister missionaries to stay in until we left for home. It was really fun spending so much time with the sisters! Today we decided we are going to go to the mall and spend some time looking around and getting any last minute souvenirs or something before we come home. We might even go sight seeing a little just for fun. Tomorrow we get to go to the temple with all the missionaries and with senior couple since President and Sister Burt had to go back to Utah. Once we are done with the temple we get to have another dinner and then get our things ready to come home on Wednesday. I am really excited to come home but also really sad to be leaving my mission. I am hopeful for the future and am sure there are great things coming my way once I get home! Love you all and can't wait to see you!
Love,
Sister Heaton

The Best 18 Months!

I seriously can't believe that the time has gone by so fast! The moments i have experienced, the feelings i have felt, the adventures i have been on, the prayers that have been answered, the friendships i have made and the eternal principles i have to perfect have all been a testimony builder to me and have truly strengthened my understanding of so many things!

I know that Heavenly Father loves each us so much! He knows us personally and wants what is best for us! He has a plan for all of his children and wants to do whatever he can to assure we all return to him one day! He has given us so many tools in this life to make sure we have everything we need to return to him again!

One of those is our families! I love my family so much i am truly appreciate all the love and support they have given me throughout my life! I truly couldn't have made it as far as i have without each of them! God gave us families to teach us everything we would need to know in an atmosphere that is filled with love and happiness!

I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God! Christ church was restored by him in these latter days so we could have everything we need to be with our families forever and live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ once again! He truly saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and restored the Priesthood on the earth once again to fulfill his holy calling and to allow each of us to participate in covenants that will ensure our way back home! It is only through having faith in Jesus Christ, repenting daily, living up to and renewing our covenants each week through the sacrament, following the guidance of the Holy Ghost and enduring all the way to the end will we know for sure we have done all we have have done to return with our Father in Heaven! Living the gospel of Jesus Christ will bring peace, happiness, and joy not only in this life but for eternity! We will see the hand of the Lord in our lives and receive blessing beyond measure!

I know that everything happens for a reason and as we follow the will of the Lord and include Him in our everyday lives through prayer, scripture study, follow the prophet and apostles and living the commandments we will know that we are living how he wants us to and we are following his plan for us! These basic principles will allow us to feel his love daily and help us to receive answers to life's struggles and questions!

I know that the Book of Mormon is true! It is the keystone of our beliefs, our faith and our religion! It was translated by Joseph Smith by the power of God so we could have it today! It is evidence of Gods love for each of us and is one of the most important books we could ever read in our lives and will always bring peace to our soul and will lead us safely home! Anyone that reads this book will gain the witness that God knows and loves each of us, Joseph Smith is a true prophet and most importantly that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and Redeemer.

I know that my Saviour loves me! He is always there for us! He suffered for us and even if i was the only person on the earth he would have still come down and suffered and died for me because of his love! His sacrifice, The Atonement is what makes it possible for each of us to be cleansed, to overcome spiritual and physical death and one day live as our Father lives. His sacrifice makes salvation possible and with it we can overcome our sicknesses, pains, and trials! All that has happened in our lives and everything that will happen can be overcome with His help! As we truly rely on him we will see miracles in our lives and we will receive a peace and comfort we will find no where else!

I have loved every second of my mission. The good times and the bad times!I have gone through many experiences but i know that i have endured it all for the sake of Him who suffered it all for me! He is the truth and the light and i will be his disciple to the end! In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Sister Heaton :)

What a week it has been! So we had to get a small scratch fixed on our car from a person bumping it when they were parking so we didn't have a car for 2 days so we were on the buses! It actually wasn't too bad thank goodness and we had a pretty good few days. We met a lot of people and saw some miracles and had some adventures!

Then Karli had us over for dinner the other night and that was really fun! She is loving everything about the church and is still getting use to the change but knows how happy it makes her! We had a good time!

We also this Sunday instead of church got to be apart of the Montreal Quebec Temple Re-dedication! That was amazing! They had every stake in Canada watch it! Karli got to come to that too and she loved it and can't wait to go to the temple! She loved the feeling of just sitting in the chapel and watching it and now can't wait to go to the real temple and feel the spirit there! We learned so much about the importance of temples and how sacred and important the work is! I love the temple and can't wait to be able to go more often! It truly is a piece of Heaven on earth. Our heavenly home right here that will give each of us the peace, refuge and safety we need in this world! It will help us find the right answers and help us feel of the spirit when we are seeking for the love of our Heavenly Father!

I hope you all have a good week and i can't wait to see how your Thanksgiving is and what you are all grateful for this year! :)

Love,
Sister Heaton

We had a very busy week last week! So many things happened and we were able to see so many miracles!

First of all, KARLI GOT BAPTIZED!!!! We met her almost everyday to make sure she was ready for Saturday! We got her to try on her baptism dress on Monday night and she was so cute because she wanted us to help her pick out what to wear to the baptism and afterwards! Then we didn't get to see her on Tuesday but we called and prayed with her in the morning before she went to work! Then we saw her on Wednesday and got t teach her about the plan of salvation again but this time taught more about temples and family history! It was amazing because she said she was praying about what her next goal should be after her baptism and of course she knew right away that she needs to start working towards going to the temple! Then Thursday we taught her all about missionary work and she got so excited that she is now able to come to lessons with us! She got really really excited and she told us she finally told her mom about getting baptized and the church and her mom was really happy for her, so that was a really big thing! Then we saw her on Friday and went over the Restoration one more time to help her remember before she starts teaching us, that was a very powerful lessons! She told us she was all ready and had everything prepared just in case something happened!

Friday afternoon we were able to have a very amazing Zone Meeting with our Zone! It was very uplifting and spiritual, all about how we can be a mission on fire! We talked about the things we need to do personally and in our companionship to really get the mission blazing! We each really were able to look inside of ourselves personally and find out who we are and what we can do to get our personal fires going and how we can keep them going! Then after our meeting was about to end, they of course had all the missionaries going home at the end of the transfer bear there testimonies! I completely forgot that happens but it always feels so good to bear your testimony to people who want to hear it and help them to feel the spirit as well as confirm your own testimony to yourself of what you know to be true!
Then Karli was baptized on Saturday! Her baptism was amazing! It was very spiritual and she was so happy! After she was baptized she just started laughing because she was unsure of what to feel and think, it all being so new for her to be relieved of all those burdens and sins! After when she was getting dressed she told us she didn't believe she would feel different but she did and she didn't know how to respond so she just kept laughing! Then after she got confirmed on Sunday she called us a bit after church and wanted us to come over because she felt weird! She really just felt lighter and was worried something was wrong with her and she wan't being normal! It is always an amazing experience to see someone have everything washed away and start a new life following Christ! It reminds me of my covenants and how it should always feel when we take the sacrament, lighter and happier! It gives you a new perspective of the Atonement and the power it has for each of us!

Yesterday was absolutely amazing as well, since we had our Zone Conference where Elder and Sister Teh of the Seventy and President and Sister Burt came and spoke to us! It was absolutely phenomenal! We talked a lot about listening and following the spirit and a lot about why we are here serving missions! Elder Teh at the beginning of the meeting promised that all our questions we came with would be answered if we truly were engaged in the meeting and were waiting for the spirit to give us our answers!  All of my questions were answered just as Elder Teh said they would be! I have a great amount of desire to go out and really make these last 3 weeks the best i can and work so hard! Thank you so much for the beautiful blessing you gave me! It was just what i needed to hear! It just goes to show me how amazing the spirit is and how it truly helps us so much to know exactly what we personally need, reminding me of the talk from conference, What Lack I Yet?

We had a very full and busy week and were able to see so many miracles! I can't wait to share them all with you next week! i am going to keep enduring strong and will do everything i can to make the end of my mission one to truly remember! : ) Love you all!

Love,
Sister Heaton

Including Heaven in our Day

What a crazy week it was! I don't even remember what happened it all went by so fast! We got to see Karli a lot this week to keep helping her prepare for her baptism this Saturday! She is so excited! She had her interview on Saturday and passed with flying colors! Tonight we are taking her the baptism outfits so she can try them on! She is amazing and seriously has come such a long way! I have only know her for almost a month now but it feels like i have know her for so much longer!

We had Stake Conference this weekend and President and Sister Burt came and spoke! It was amazing! We heard a lot about opening our mouths and just talking to people no matter what we talk about but just really building relationships with people then introducing the gospel when the time is right! Very inspiring and spiritual as always! We also got to have interviews with President and Sister Burt! They both gave me some encouraging words to help me finish off strong and keep working hard! They also encouraged us to pray and include Heaven more into our plans and our days so we can be sure to do the Fathers will and be where he wants us to be!

After we had our interviews last night we talked more about what we can do to be more focused on the work and to help the ward and the investigators we have! Then last night we decided to start praying to Heavenly Father to include heaven into the work more! We both got a very distinct and clear answer to go and visit a recent convert that we had gotten a text from who was struggling! It was amazing to receive a very distinct impression from the spirit and know that you were going right where Heavenly Father wanted you to go! It gives you so much more confidence in the work and you can feel you are where you need to be! I now have an even stronger testimony of prayer and know that as we continue to include God in our day even more we will find more of his prepared children and be able to follow his will more exactly!
I love you all so much and can't wait to hear from you next week!

Love,
Sister Heaton

Happy Halloween! :)

This week has been great! It has been really rainy and windy all week but that just means that winter here is coming! Plus we have been really blessed with such nice weather for such a long time!
Last P-day we went to the Fishermans Wharf and got to feed a seal (some lady bought us fish to feed it, she was so nice) and had some yummy mini donuts with the YSA sisters and the Sidney Sisters! It was a lot of fun!
We were able to see so many miracles this week especially with Karli! She is so excited to get baptized! She was able to meet with Bishop yesterday and  get to know him better! We had taught her about tithing which was something that was really hard for her to accept and she wouldn't commit to it at first so we invited her to pray about it! Then the next day told us she couldn't do it and was really sad and depressed because she wasnt financially stable at the moment to pay it! So we told her not to focus on it and to talk to Bishop about it when she met with him on Sunday! Then she called us on Saturday night so excited because she got the answer that she just needs to figure out how to budget her money better and she can pay tithing! It was absolutely amazing to see her find the answer to her questions and to really rely on God for the answers! She has grown so much just in the last 2 weeks we have been teaching her! When she came to church yesterday she told us she felt more comfortable and was able to meet more people and she continually just told us how happy she was and how much happier she has been since she started meeting with us and applying what we invited her to in her life! It has really strengthened my testimony of how powerful the gospel of Jesus Christ is and how it can truly change you and make you happier in life!

We got the chance to go to our wards trunk or treat and carve a pumpkin! Ours said CTR but it kind of broke so it didn't look as good as it could have but it was still lots of fun! Then on acutal Halloween we got to spend the night with the YSA sisters! We had to be in at 5 so we all had dinner together then did our planning and then took some fun pictures and talked until it was 10:30 which then changed to 9:30 due to daylight savings so we got an extra hour of sleep which was much needed and appreciated!

Funny story/miracle: We got a referral from a member in Sidney on Thursday so we went to go contact her on Friday and i was trying to find parking (it is so hard to find parking in Victoria) and i finally found one but i had to parallel park! I hate parallel parking but i still did it anyway even though the space we found was kind of small! Sister Bell started to back me in and i was going and i kind of wasn't paying as much attention since there were people waiting behind me and i accidentally squished Sister Bell in between our car and the car behind us. She was sitting on the hood of the car making the car alarm go off! It was so funny and thankfully she didnt get hurt or anything. Sadly we had all that happen and the referral, Betty wasn't home. So we tried again on Sunday night and she let us right in and we taught her about the Book of Mormon and how Jesus Christ can help her and she committed to be baptized! It was an amazing miracle!

I love this gospel so much and my desire to share it with others has been getting stronger as i realize that i only have so much longer to share what i know as a full time missionary! This gospel has changed my life and i love that fact that i get to see that change in others lives! I was thinking about my conversion story this week and realized how many people, spiritual experiences and different moments i have had throughout my life bring me to where i am today and to know what i know today! Before my mission i felt like i believed a lot of things, i believe Joseph Smith was a prophet. I believed The Book of Mormon was true, etc but as i have continually shared what i believed i have realized that i now KNOW without a doubt that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God to restore Christ full gospel and priesthood back to the earth and he translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God specifically for our generation today to be that evidence and keystone of all we believe, and i KNOW that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer and he suffered for me so that i could be forgiven for everything! I know that even if i was the only person on the earth that he would have still come down and suffer for me because he loves me that much!

Love,
Sister Heaton

Crazy Transfers! :)

10/26/2015

This week as always went by way to fast! It was a very interesting week for sure with all the transfers and changes! But i know this is going to be the best transfer!

We had Sister Jeppson our Sister Training Leader with us on Tuesday due to her companion being transferred! So we got to see her off! Then we had a wonderful lunch at our favorite place La Belle Patate with a wonderful member Brother Lott! Then got to see 2 of our recent converts and see some of the YSA recent converts and then at the end of the day we got to spend time with Karli! She is doing so well! She stopped drinking coffee and smoking and seriously can't wait to be baptized on the 14th of November! She is the most golden investigator i have ever met! She has had some amazing witnesses of truth and has a great desire to do good and have the spirit in her life!

Karli is our only progressing investigator right now! We have a few that are eternal investigators but are just waiting to make a decision about things that are holding them back like smoking or living with their boyfriend so we are not seeing them a lot but enough to let them know we love them and are here for them when they make the decision! But we have a bunch of appointments set up with new people we have this week so we are excited to increase our teaching pool and find more of Heavenly Fathers children that are prepared and ready for the gospel!

Then Sister Magleby left me at 9 am on Wednesday morning after a long night of helping her get all her stuff packed! After that, Sister Jeppson and i were companions for the day and were in charge of getting all the sisters to their new areas and to the ferry on time! So we took a Sister to the ferry at 1 and had her companion with us until 2:30 when her companion came in then we had a dinner appointment we went to since our companions were suppose to come in at 4:30 but missed their ferry by 2 minutes so we got them at 6:30 except we got a little lost on some round about (5 in a row) and a side road that was really pretty but finally got our companions! It was an adventurous day!

My new companion is Sister Bell! She is amazing and is such an amazing missionary! We have set so many goals for the transfer and really want to work really hard and make sure we make this transfer a transfer of miracles! We already have seen so many miracles with the short time we have been together, making me so excited for the rest of the transfer! She is so full of desire and loves to work, so it has been a really good change! She is determined to help me finish my mission strong which is exactly what i need! She has so many good ideas and really wants to help our investigators progress!

Our Bishop here, Bishop Nohr had all the missionaries stand up in sacrament because each companionship in the ward had a new missionary and announced that we want to come to members homes and they don't have to feed us just let us in their homes so that we could feel of their spirit and we could share an uplifting message to build their testimonies and faith! It was amazing and we already got a call from a member wanting us to come and see them! It is going to be amazing! And with my goal of making sure i leave the area better than i found it we will for sure be working hard and being as exactly obedient and i know we will help the area progress even more!

I love you all and hope you have an amazing week! Can't wait to talk to you next week and hear all about how your Halloween was! :)

Love,
Sister Heaton

My LAST Transfer News!!!!!

10/19/2015

So we got our transfer news on Saturday and I AM DYING IN VICTORIA! And getting a different companion named Sister Bell. She has only been out for 3 months so she is still a baby but it will be great! I can't wait to see what these next few weeks have in store for me and all the amazing last minute miracles i get to experience while i am still a full time missionary! When we got the news i was really sad that I wasn't going to end my mission with Sister Magleby! We have gotten so close in just a short amount of time! We have had so many amazing and fun experiences these past few weeks that i will never forget! I are almost the same person! I like to call our companionship a "twinpanionship" because we say the same thing at the same time all the time and are thinking the same thing all the time and like so many of the same things it is crazy! She is amazing and i can't wait to hear how the rest of her mission is especially as she goes to Kelowna with my MTC companion Sister Tingson to pink wash!

This week went by so fast.Time is seriously going by in fast forward! We leave in the morning and then somehow it is night again and we are pulling in for the night! I don't know how it happens!

We were also able to have a great Sunday this past week! Karli came to all 3 hours of church and loved it and can't wait to meet again on Tuesday! She is understanding everything and we had an interesting gospel principles class all about the second coming and thankfully we had taught her about the plan of salvation and answered a lot of the questions that came up in class so she knew exaclty what was going on so that was really cool! Also me and my companion and another Sister got to sing in Sacrament! We sang Nearer My God To Thee! It was amazing! We got a lot of compliments and a lot of people were crying so it was really good! Then on Sunday night we got to go to a Stake MTC for all the leaders in each of the wards in Victoria and President Burt came so we got to see him and hear from him! It was all about how we just need to start conversations and just open our mouths! It was very inspiring and very uplifting!

I love the gospel and sharing it with others and helping other people understand how it applies to them and how it can help them in their lives just like it has helped me in mine! I am excited to really rededicate these last 7 weeks of my mission to make sure i do everything i can for the Lord and his work before its over! This gospel is something that has changed my life and i know can change anyone that is willing to know for themselves if it is true but it all starts with desire and faith! It is only then that the Lord will be willing to give us what he knows we willing to do what we can to act on our answer and apply it! One of the best ways to get answers is from the Book of Mormon! It answers all the questions of the soul and will never lead us in the wrong direction! I love you all and can't wait to talk to you next week! :)

Love,
Sister Heaton

Canadian Thanksgiving!

10/12/2015

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!!!!

That is why i am emailing you a day later! Our mission president wants us out on holidays so every time a holiday is on a Monday our p-day turns into a Tuesday! But it was well worth it! We got to have dinner at our Bishops house on Sunday night with a few other members and a non member friend! Our bishop gave him a french Book of Mormon for us! It was great! Then yesterday on real Thanksgiving we had dinner with the cutest family, the McNiells! They also had non member family there! it was great, they asked us a lot of questions and we were able to share a very uplifting message about gratitude! We had the usual Thanksgiving foods: Turkey, potatoes, gravy, stuffing, vegetables (including cauliflower with cheese sauce and sweet potato pie that should have been dessert! SO GOOD) and pumpkin pie to top it off! I am so grateful that we were able to spend time with the members and feel at home!
We also had the most amazing miracle! We got a call from the Elders in another ward here in Victoria and they told us they got a referral that was in our area! This girl had been learning from missionaries online in Mexico so we were able to go and meet her! Her name is Karli McInnis! She is so cute and wants to get baptized so we set a date for the 14th of November! She is dating a member in another ward and can't wait to get married in the temple! She is pretty much already living everything and is SO prepared!!!! So that was amazing! We dropped almost everyone we were teaching and were blessed with this amazingly prepared woman!
We are also teaching a woman named Linda who was taking the lessons a few years back from missionaries in Parksville and met some of the elders on the bus! She has had a really hard life but as we testified to her about the gospel and how much happiness it will bring her and she got really excited to learn more about the plan of salvation!
We also had what we call "Park the Car Day" this saturday and they changed it so we can't use our car at all so we can rely on other modes of transportation kike a member or the bus or walking or bikes! We were on exchange and i was in the YSA sisters area and we couldn't find a member to drive us to meet the other sister at the chapel so we had to walk. I had about 30 pounds i had to carry and I still don't know the area very well and i had no idea how far we were actually walking! We ended up having to walk for 2 hours! With this giant duffle bag i had i thought i was going to die! I have never been so tired or sore before! Then a few hours later it rained on us as we were making our way home so that was a lot of fun! It made me feel better anyway! I am finally now almost recovered physically and i know that the Lord strengthened me the whole way!
Other than that we have been really finding and talking to lots of people oh and we were finding at a place called Saxe Point and ended up seeing a bald eagle, a hummingbird and then 2 ORCAS! They were right in front of us! It was amazing to see them! We were very thankful for that amazing experience! Then we got to see some seals that you can feed by one of the bays! Lets just say it was a great week full of adventures and miracles!!!!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here and share the gospel with all those i meet! Just having the opportunity to bear testimony to as many people as i can to give them a taste of the spirit and the happiness it can bring them is such a blessing! I love it here in Victoria! I am also very grateful for all of you and the support and love you give me each week by writing to me and sharing you experiences too! Love and miss you all!

Love,
Sister Heaton

Conference!!!! :)

10/5/2015

Conference somehow has this way of coming so fast and then its over before you know it!!! It was absolutely amazing though and i really got so many answers and recieved so much revelation! So many of the talks were just what i needed to hear and answered my questions and others taught me things i didn't even realize i needed! All in all i can't wait to get the Conference Ensign so i can to review all of the talks and recieve that extra revelation i am always in need of! My favorite talks were Elder Holland, President Nelsons, Elder Ballard and President Uchtdorf! I loved all of the other ones too but those really hit me and helped me in many ways!

This week was very interesting! The only people we have been teaching lately are eternal investigators that were found at the beginning of the year so we decided this week was going to be the deciding week to figure out who needs a break and who is going to progress! We have been finding a lot of YSA or people not in our area which is good but we are in need a teaching pool so that is going to be our focus for the week this week!

We were able to have an amazing Zone Meeting and hear what our leaders learned from their Mission Council and what we need to focus on as a mission. We talked a lot about faith and really increasing it to find more people who are prepared! I also was asked to give a training on Elder Bednar's talk from April Conference "They Hushed Their Fears." I was able to learn so much while preparing this training and really started to understand faith and how much power it has in our lives when we exercise it! Fear is the opposite of faith so we have to have fears so we can have faith and be able to use it in our lives! Without faith we would have no ability to see miracles and wouldn't be able to repent, be obedient or serve others. It says in Preach My Gospel, " When you have faith in Jesus Christ, you trust the Lord enough to follow His commandments—even when you do not completely understand the reasons for them. You accomplish what the Lord wants you to accomplish. You help bring about good in your own life and the lives of others. You are able to do miracles according to the Lord’s will." Faith is so important in each of our lives and i know as we each exercise it even more we will see Heavenly Father working in our lives and help us see our true potential as His children!

I love this gospel and am so thankful I had the amazing opportunity to sustain the Prophet and apostles especially the 3 new apostles! That was definitely the highlight of this week! Zone Conference was amazing too and i am so glad we were able to receive a greater boost of faith and be reminded of our purpose and what we are doing here! I love this gospel and the opportunity i have to share it! I know that God is in charge and loves each of us and knows what is best for us in our lives! As long as we trust in Him we will be happy! I hope you all have a great week and are able to apply what you learned from Conference!

Love,
