It has been so HOT!!!! It has been in the 30's this past weekend with the sun shining and everything. We have been out walking a lot lately trying to find more people to teach and i have to say, water is one of my best friends. There have been many kind people that gave us water, and pop and some cold treats thank goodness! The only good thing that has come from the heat is that i have gotten a little tanner everyday! :) Thankfully it rained a bit yesterday but the heat and humidity was still there! But was way better than the sun beating on us!
Anyway we had a full week full of finding and service. We didn't get transferred but a lot of other people did and they made a lot of changes, opening up a few areas and closing a few, and whitewashing a bunch. I am so thankful we got to stay there are so many prepared people here we just need to meet them and baptize them!
Anyway one of the craziest days was Saturday! It was walking day, so we got bus passes so we could get around and it was the hottest days of the week. We were able to talk to lots of people but the best part was a recent converts friend and her husband and daughter were moving in and they needed some help. So we got the opportunity to help. Man was that was a hard but very rewarding service project. They moved into a small apartment that we had to carry a bunch of things up three flights of stairs. I have no idea how my companion and i made it through the whole service project but all i can say is the Atonement is real. I know that Heavenly Father was giving us the strength and ability to keep carrying things then continue on the rest of the night walking. Lets just say i am still sore but it was a great workout and they appreciated it so much! The best part is we were able to help them out and talk to them about the gospel! The husband is super interested in coming to church and learning more since he has a lot of friends that are members in Chilliwack! So we are praying that we will get to meet with them this week sometime! They really appreciated our help and according to the member the husband is still talking about how much he appreciated our help so his heart has been softened!
We did find some cool people that said we could come back but no one super solid!Sadly since school is out and summer is here a lot of people are out of town and on holiday or are way too busy to meet! But we have been really thinking about the progress of the people we are working with and this week will be the do or die week for all of them, if we do get to meet with them. If they aren't keeping their commitments then its time we let them sit for a while and focus our attention on finding the people who truly want to learn, change and progress towards baptism. I know that God has a plan for me here and there are certain people that I need to touch. There are people here that God needs us to help and all we have to do is keep working hard and keep hope and i know that we will find the prepared people or they will be brought to us!
I love this amazing work here especially in Nanaimo! There are so many people just waiting to hear the amazing gospel that i have had with me my whole life! It is such a selfish act to keep what has made me and my family so happy these past 20 years to myself! I have to share it with as many people as i can, whether they want to hear it or not is there choice but the least i can do is make the right choice and share it with them. That is the one thing i can control. I have such a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon. I know that it is the word of God that was translated by the power of God through the prophet of the Restoration, Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith went through so much so we could each have the truth today and so i could have the chance to share it with others. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and taught many truths when he was here on the earth. He did the one thing none of us could have done for ourselves. He performed and completed the will of the Father that is so essential to each of us. Without that sacrifice we would have no purpose to be here on earth. He is my Redeemer, my Savior and my Lord and i will do everything in my power to follow him and help others to do the same. Love you all!
Love,
Sister Heaton

We sticky noted our recent converts car before she left for work as we were going to a member dinner appointment.
Found this card in the door as we were knocking. It was probably left there for the Elders but it was still funny! :)
