This week has been CRAZY!!! First of all i am still in Prince George!!! Yeah! Most stressful Monday night of my life! Between 9-10:30 the Assistants could call and tell you your transfer news if you have any and if they don't call you, then you are safe! You are not safe until 10:30 no matter what! But we didn't get a call and we were so happy!!! I seriously love Sister Goldthorpe and we have so much fun together. Our STL's stayed as well which was really good but the Vanderhoof got whitewashed (which means that both the sisters got transferred so 2 new sisters are getting transferred there) So we now have 2 new sisters, They are both so cute!!
We helped one of our members, Candy pick and cut crab apples so she could make them into jelly. Then we helped a recent convert make Sushi for the best potluck ever on Friday. Then the potluck was awesome. We had a few less actives there and 2 investigators! They both had a great time and it was a hoedown theme and a Chili cook off which made it even better. It was so much fun. Saturday morning we went downtown to street contact by the Farmers markets they have every Saturday and were able to talk to a bunch of people. Saturday afternoon we went to a members house, The Gurneys and were able to meet their pet squirrel! Best experience ever! Her name is Spunky and she actually comes when her name is called! She just jumps up on you and grabs a peanut and then runs away and buries it then comes back. Its like a game and she loves it. Then on Saturday night we went to our Bishops house for what he called, His "Fat and 40" party where he killed and cooked a whole pig! It was so good! We were able to meet some great people and get to know our members better. Then on Sunday night we had a YSA/ going away BBQ for a member named Sam who is going to Thailand and a bunch of other places and is leaving in a few weeks. It was really fun as well. We probably ate at our apartment maybe like 6 times all week because we were so busy running around doing things for other people and getting things done. We ate food at Costco twice and it was so weird to go in and not shop their but they have the best poutine and fries ever! It looks exactly the the ones in the States which was kind of cool.
This week was probably the biggest struggle but also most spiritual I have felt in a long time. I have definitely learned patience and that everything will work out how it is suppose to and it will happen in the Lords time. For the past 5 weeks we have been struggling to find people, get members to lessons, schedule lessons, etc. Sister Goldthorpe and I couldn't figure out what was happening, what we were doing wrong, how we could fix it. We continuously prayed for more ward unity, direction from the Holy Ghost, ways to get into members homes and get to know them and share messages with them. Then we had mission council today and everything that was said answered every single one of our problems! It was a miracle!! There were 3 huge changes! No more concecrated finding time (the time betweem 5-7 where we do nothing but finding), we only get 3 hours to plan every Thursday, and we can now eat at members houses! Everything that was said has been the step we have been waiting for! We felt it last week during finding on Tuesday. We just knew that something had changed with finding because it didn't feel like finding anymore. We literally felt a change and knew President had made some kind of decision about it. Then today when President Burt announced everything you could just feel it in your heart that it was right and we would finally be able to make progress here in Prince George.
Everyone the time is now. D&C 88:73 "Behold, I will hasten my work in its time." The Lord is hastening his work and now is the time to decide whether or not you are going to keep pace or fall behind and be comfortable with your life. Help the missionaries. Invite them over for dinner and give them people that are in your life that you know is ready and prepared for the gospel. Not only will it help you and the missionaries but you are sharing what is most precious to you with the people that you love. I invite all of you to do something to help hasten the work in you area! I love you all and miss you everyday!
Love,
Sister Heaton
