Family and Friends!!!
Where has this week gone??? It just keeps going by faster and faster its crazy we only have just 3 more weeks until the end of this transfer!! Weird! This week was a crazy weird week! I have no idea what happened! So we usually meet with Denise every Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 7 at the hospital. We went to see her on Monday and we just reviewed everything we had been teaching her. We went back on Wednesday and our member was walking toward us and told us she had been released and they don't know where she went. So we tried calling her and she never answered and still isn't answering. Pretty much she disappeared! Then we had a whole bunch of lessons set up for this week and only ended up having 6 all together and only 4 were with a member present! That is terrible! All of our lessons we had fell through but we were able to set up a bunch a solid lessons for this week so hopefully we will do better! We also had a dinner appointment with the Parnell's who are recent converts and that was a lot of fun! They are awesome!! Wednesday we had district meeting! It was really inspiration and at Zone meeting none of the Sisters bore their testimonies so we had a testimony meeting at the end of our meeting! The spirit was so strong and everyone was able to bear their testimonies! We were also able to see a lot of Less actives this week as well! We accidentally ran into one and talked to them for a while. Then we saw another girl, Serena. She is in her 20's and has been having a hard time with her less active friend but we showed her a Mormon message (i suggest you all watch it as well) called the Hope of God's Light! She loved it so much that she showed it to her non-member friends a few days after!
We also had exchanges this week! Weirdest exchange i have ever had!! We had one with the STL's and i was able to go to their area with Sister Jones. It started out really well. We weeded a members garden then went to a community garden and weeded for a while and then got some vegetables. We noticed on the way home for lunch that Sister Jones had an allergic reaction on her arms from pulling weeds. We told the Deckwas and Elder Deckwa is a pharmacist and he gave her benadryl. Worst idea ever. She has only had benadryl one other time in her life and her family told her she said the weirdest things! Then it happened, again! She said the craziest things and was so loopy! We went out finding and we were able to find this awesome potential named Lee. After that we felt we needed to go somewhere else and while we were driving i could tell the drugs were starting to affect her. We ended up talking for an hour in the car because she was so loopy and tired. Then we were suppose to go teach a few investigators but she couldnt really speak or remember what was happening so we had to go home and we had to sit in the apartment the rest of the night until it wore off. Then the next day we started off our day really well, we went running, had great studies and were out right on time. Then we dropped by someone who wasn't home, then tried to see a member then had an awkward encounter with the Jehovah's Witnesses. Then we had a lesson and right when you walked into this recent converts apartment the spirit was gone. We had the hardest time teaching this family who had dug themselves into this depressing dark whole. I felt like once we left we had just gained 40 pounds of depression and heartache. Then we switched back and Sister Goldthorpe and i were able to have a good rest of our night. It was the weirdest exchange i have ever been on! I have never not felt the spirit for so long until this past weekend. Both Sister Jones and I felt like we were being attacked by the adversary.
Yesterday went well. We had an investigator come to church and a few less actives we saw this past week came too. The elders passed this investigator off to us so we haven't actually taught her yet but she is awesome. She is 19 and her name is Kecia. She is the niece of one of our members. She is super sweet and fun to talk to so we are excited to teach her. We also were able to have a lesson with Erica last night. We were suppose to establish real intentions with her last night but we both felt like she is starting to progress and understand us a little more so we are going to talk about it on Wednesday!
This week i have a learned so much in my studies!! I have been trying to really study the Book of Mormon so i have been writing down almost all the thoughts i have about each verse, so i am only able to read one chapter in 30 minutes but it really makes me think and understand the story and the message behind almost every verse. I have also been reading in the Ensign a few stories here and there. I read a really good one from this months issue called Act Upon This Land. It was really good talking about how everything Heavenly Father does is for our benefit even if we don't understand it at the time. It also talks about the journey we are all taking through the wilderness to the promised land. Even though we all have the same amount of steps (such as be obedient, repent, receive priesthood ordinances, and endure faithfully) we each have to take a different route to get there. (1 Nephi 17:13) It was really good! I invite you all to read this story or something from the ensign this week and apply what you learned into your life everyday!
This week was definitely really hard and we didn't do as well as we wanted to in terms of lessons and the standards but it has taught me not to give up hope and to keep my faith strong. I have been able to realize how Heavenly Father really is in charge of everything and it will all work out how it needs to. It was hard for a while but i know that as long as i am obedient and i do my best every day the Lord will pour blessing upon us. I have faith that this week we will be able to see many miracles and be able to find those people that have been waiting for us to help them in their lives!
I love you all and miss you so much!! Can't wait to hear all about your adventures next week!!
Love,
Sister Heaton
