Another week has gone by here in Port Alberni!!
The beginning of the week went by super slow! It was so hot outside and no one was home or interested, sadly enough! All of our investigators kind of dropped off the face of the earth and won't text us back but it was all good by the end of the week!
We were able to get in touch with our most amazing investigator ever again! Her name is Tanja and she is the best! She really wants to find the truth and has been searching for so long all the different religions just trying to find the right one! She knows the church is true but has been searching for so long she is kind of scared to make big steps! But the best part is she came to church this week and loved it! She has 4 kids (ages 13,9,7,2) and didn't want to bring them until she "checked it out" but is super excited to bring them in 2 weeks when they get back from their dads!
We also have this other cool investigator, Ken and his family we are finally starting to work with! We helped him and his family paint there new house and this past Saturday clean their old house. the first time we helped we were able to talk to him and his friend about what we do as missionaries but we were also painting so it wasn't quite a lesson. But this week, it was just us and our member and him. He asked us a bunch of questions and we pretty much taught him the whole Restoration and Plan of Salvation! We gave him a Book of Mormon and he wants to come to church! We are excited to teach him and his family and help them feel the spirit even more and find out for themselves!
Other than that our week was full of finding more people and trying to get into members homes! We were able to do some service for a couple part members and we are teaching a part members daughter the lessons before her baptism this Sunday! This will be my second half baptism which is super exciting! The family is so sweet and Ella (the one getting baptized) is so excited!!
We also had an amazing missionary meeting this week in Nanaimo! Elder Johnson from the Seventy came and our Area Seventy and President and Sister Burt. It was a special meeting for only the Nanaimo Stake ward councils and missionaries! It was AWESOME!!! We talked a lot about how easy it is to just open your mouth and just talk to people! Elder Johnson said the best way to start talking to someone is to focus on them because everyone likes talking about themselves and he promised that one way or another the gospel will come up and the best part is that if they are prepared then they will be interested in learning more! It is so simple! He invited each of us (missionaries do this already but we can always do better) to pray for missionary opportunities each day then open our mouths and talk to people! So i want to invite you all to do the same thing! Pray for missionary opportunities then open your mouths! I promise that the Lord will put words in you mouth and will guide the conversation so you can help do missionary work as well! Moses 1:39 "For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." This is HIS work and He is going to get his work done either with or without us but he is letting us participate because we each are apart of His work too!
I love this work so much and am so grateful to be here in Port Alberni doing the Lords work and being an instrument in His hands as i open my mouth and say what he needs said to His children. We each have what everyone in the world needs, hope, peace and the knowledge that we are all God's children and He loves each of us so much and wants each of us to return to him! I love this gospel! I am learning something new everyday! I am grateful for each of you and all you do and say to me each week to help me and strengthen me! I love and miss you all!
Love,
