So many things happened this week so hopefully i can get them all in their to share with you!!!
It was such an big and eventful week full of miracles!
So on Tuesday our Ward mission leader had the day off so he spent half of it with us going to our investigators houses and meeting them so he can better help us help them progress! We were able to see the main 3 people we have been working with, which was amazing! One of the lessons we did end up having was quite interesting! I had randomly called a potential in the phone and she sounded really nice and really wanted a Book of Mormon and to meet so we took our ward mission leader to the lesson, and we ended up finding her walking out of her house, drunk. So we had a lesson on the curb of the street. It was probably one of the more interesting lesson i have had, where our ward mission leader was laughing, our investigator was crying on my companion and i was there trying to testify about how the gospel will change her life! It was an adventure for sure!
Wednesday we were able to go out and have dinner with Ella our 8 year old girl who is part of a part member family. We were able to finally get to know the dad and taught the family about the Plan of Salvation. The dad (not a member) was super interested in it and we could tell he was listening so that was really good! Then she got baptized on Sunday! It was so great! She was so excited and i could tell her dad felt the spirit, so we are praying that he ha a change of heart and wants to learn and know for himself more about the church!
Thursday we took some cookies to our investigator Tanja's house (her birthday was on Friday). She had her Muslim friend there again so we had Sister Atkinson keep him occupied while me and our amazing ward mission leaders wife, Rochelle teach her more about Joseph Smith and she is starting to recognize the spirit, especially when she reads the book of mormon! it was a great lesson. She was able to come to church though due to helping her friend but we are going to see her tomorrow so we are praying that she will be even more prepared!
Friday we had an amazing Zone meeting! We had the head of proselyting in Salt Lake come to our leaders meeting so we got to practice some new proselyting techniques that they learned from him! It was lots of fun! But the best part was on the way to the meeting we stopped at Cathedral Grove, a beautiful forest that is just so green with beautiful tall trees. We also go to have the Campbell River sisters ride down with us as well so on the way back to the car we decided to stop for a minute to see the Goats on the Roof in Coombs, a cafe where you can eat and there are goats sitting on the roof! It is a huge thing here and i finally got to see them!
Saturday was our wards annual corn roast and so we had lots of members and less actives come. One of our members brought their exchange student from China with her and he is kind of interested in learning, he even came to church!
We had 4 people at church, all from other members! One is a members girlfriend who wants to learn about the church, 2 were invited by the bishop 2 weeks ago and were able to come again this week and loved it, the the last one was a part member who is investigating.
Then last of all this morning we were running on our usual path right that goes around the river and WE SAW A BEAR!!! We were close enough to our apartment that we ran inside and grabbed my camera! It was amazing! Then we went to Stamp Falls, where all the salmon and other fish go to travel from one place to the other! THERE WERE SO MANY AND THEY WERE SO BIG! It was lots of fun and so pretty!
This week was full of so many amazing adventures but there isn't anything better than sharing the gospel with those around you! It is so hard to have this amazing conversation with people and they are so prepared but they aren't willing to make any changes in their lives to learn more or strengthen their relationship with God or even be happier. A lot of people think they are happy enough and they don't need anything more in their life. When the fact is the only way we can be happy is if we follow the commandments God has given us! I was reading an article in the Ensign and found this amazing quote that really helped me to see the importance of following the standards that Heavenly Father has set for us so we can receive exaltation and live with him again, "We must not be deceived or give heed to those who would attempt to convince us that God’s standards have changed. They have no authority to change the standards. Only the designer, Heavenly Father, can change the specifications." As we read the scriptures, follow the prophet and continue to be obedient to God's commandments the standards of the world, that are constantly changing won't effect us because we will be living the standards that truly matter and will get us where we want to go and where our Father in Heaven wants us to be, in his arms for eternity! I love this gospel and am so grateful for it each day as i learn and grow and continue to change so i can be more like my Father in Heaven! :)
Love you all!
