Hello Family!!
It was so nice to talk to you and the family on the phone!! Sadly while i was on the phone i saw two men that looked familiar but didn't think anything of it until later when i found out my whole group going to Canada got to take a picture with ..... 2 APOSTLES!! I am pretty sure it was Christoffersen and Oaks! Apparently they were going to California for something! The flight was great! A lot of us sat next to each other on the first plane but i mostly just slept almost the whole way since i was so tried from going to bed at 1 and waking up at 3 to get ready to go! We got to Oregon and walked forever until we made to our gate and the plane we were taking was just a tiny propeller plane and i sat by myself but one of the Elders from my district sat behind me so i talked to him a little. Again i mostly just slept! Once we got to Canada, it finally hit me that i was on a mission! It felt so weird and i used the first washroom! Its a bathroom but they call it a washroom when there isn't a shower or bathtub! It took a while for all 17 of us to get our luggage and make it through immigration but we finally made it. There were 2 Elders waiting of us, then we met President Tilleman! He is amazing!! So sincere and kind!! We went to the Mission office and they fed us some snacks and we had a lot of meetings and introductions to a bunch of things! It was so hard for me to stay awake i kept dozing off because i was so tired! While we were learning all about the mission and the rules President took all of us in for an interview so he could figure out who our companion is going to be and where we are going. That night we stayed in a hotel which was really nice to sleep in! It brought back Releve memories but it was still fun! Thursday was the transfer meeting where i found out where i am going and who my Trainer is . . . .
So i am in Prince George which is way north and my trainer is Sister Kindlespire!! She is such a sweet and loving sister! We get a long so well but this is her last transfer so she is leaving in just a few more weeks! I am really sad she is leaving but that means i am being trained by the best! We had to take a plane to Prince George since it is super far away but the elders drove up my luggage for us in our brand new car which is a brand new 2014 equinox! It is so nice! Once i got with my companion we had some time in Richmond so we went street contacting! I tried to talk to someone except they didnt speak english so i didnt know how to continue or what to say! It was kind of exhilarating! On Friday i was able to try again and i talked to 3 people by myself so i am getting a lot better and i placed my first Book of Mormon. We also have gone tracting a little and everyone keeps saying they can't believe i have only been here a few days! I am loving it here! I can't even explain how much joy i get from trying to bring others the truth! I don't even get discouraged if they decline because i know that i am at least trying to plant that seed so they might accept from someone in the future!
Canada feels a lot like Utah except there aren't big mountains (i miss them, you don't really appreciate them until they aren't there anymore) and instead of the United States flag there are Canadian flags. There are a few different things, like some of the food is different but nothing too different! It is warmer because its summer but it rained a few times on us but my rain jacket has kept me pretty warm.
I am trying so hard to get into the missionary routine and am finally starting to get use to it. I am having a wonderful time and i know that as long as i am 'strong and of good courage" i can improve and become a better missionary!
I love you so much and miss you everyday!
Love,
Sister Heaton
