Hello! So today is Family Day in Canada so there is no school or work for a lot of people! Which also meant there was a lot of people out of town this weekend as well so not very many people were around to talk to but we were still able to talk to a few! We had a fun week this week and we were able to meet some interesting people. We got to meet with the cutest old lady ever! She is 97 years old and is so funny! She kissed us on the cheek when we left! Then we met this lady who said because she is a believer she has the authority to baptize so she decided to get baptized at one church then get the holy ghost at a different church then she baptized her husband in a hot tub. That was a fun conversation.
Then i finally got my package and a bunch of mail (some from Christmas time) at district meeting! I was so excited to finally get my rain boots which are adorable! We also were able to go to a Filipino birthday party! It was so cute! They have the funnest traditions. When a girl in the Philippines turns 18 it is like her coming out age and where she turns into an adult kind of. So they have all the boys in the room grab a rose (they have 18 roses) and dance with her for a minute or so then switch! It is so cute! They also play games and have people give her specific presents that represent them! So that was lot of fun to experience!
Cool miracle this week: We were talking to some people at a door about family history and gave the wife a family history card, then a little while later the husband comes running after us and got really excited that we invited them to do family history since he knows we have the largest data base. Then we were visiting a member and they said a he came in to the family history center and got to talk to the people here about doing his work here! So cool!!
Then on Sunday we had Ward Conference that was all about missionary work and ordinances which was really good! I think a lot of the members were able to finally get how important missionary work is! This is the work of salvation and we each need to continually be working towards our next ordinance so we can continually be growing and improving who we are and reach the potential God has for each of us! That means using the agency we have been given as best as we can. It is interesting that when we do get baptized we are almost giving up a little bit of our agency so we can follow the commandments and God by being obedient but it is truly to bless us more. So what are each of us willing to sacrifice to receive the promised blessings that God has in store for us? Are those things we are holding on to really worth keeping if it keeps us from completely following God and living with him again? Our will is the only thing we can completely give back to our Father in Heaven since in reality he has given us everything we have!
I hope you all have a great week and a Happy Valentines Day!! Love and miss you all!
Love,
Sister Heaton
