Dear Family and Friends,
What a week it has been! We had a really crazy week this past week again! On Monday last week after emailing, Sister Goldthorpe and I went shopping and i was able to get a recorder so i will send you my recording later. Then we went to store called BlueNotes (its a mix between Hot Topic and PacSun) and we found these awesome and weird cat shirts! They were 3 for $10 so we both got three then decided we would take pictures with them everynight in these crazy weird poses! It has been a lot of fun! Then on Tuesday we had these amazing lessons with these two amazing moms. One with a new investigator that the elders gave us named Lisa. She has 9 kids and soaked up the Restoration and the Book of Mormon. We were able to explain how church worked, a simple overview of the other lessons we were going to teach and she is so excited. Sadly she said she won't be available to meet again until school starts. Then we had a lesson with Michelle. Her lesson went so well as well. We took a member with us who she already knew, she also soaked up the Restoration. When we asked her if we could come back she said yes because she wants to learn more about this happiness we keep talking to her about. It was such a good lesson. Then on Wednesday we had an amazing district meeting! We started off by teaching our companion the First Vision to bring the spirit then we did a scripture read where we all take turns reading a verse in a chapter and then share comments and insights we get from it! The spirit was so strong and we were all able to share these amazing ideas and revelations we got! Then on Thursday our STL's decided to do an emergency exchange so we ended up in a tri. It was Sister Hanks and Sister Goldthorpe and I then Sister Jones went to Vanderhoof with the other Sisters. We were in a tri from Thursday afternoon until Saturday morning! It was a lot of fun to experience a tri again. It was a little awkward at times especially when we went tracting because there was just a wall of girls standing at the door! Then on Friday night we got to practice singing for the baptism on Saturday. Yes, I had to sing with all the Elders and Sisters in Prince George I Know That My Redeemer Lives. It didn't sound terrible but it could have sounded better. But Peter the Elders in our ward's investigator got baptized on Saturday! It was so amazing to see someone go from coming to a potluck with your ward then getting baptized! An amazing experience! Then Friday night Sister Goldthorpe and I were asked to give a training on Setting expectations with investigators for baptismal dates! Usually the STL's give a training on things like that but we were asked so we did and it went pretty well. Then on Sunday we gave a Relief Society Lesson on Bear up There Burdens with Ease. Elder Bednard's last Conference talk. That was amazing and it really showed me another part of the Atonement I have never realized. One of my favorite parts is "It is one thing to know that Jesus Christ came to the earth to die for us. But we also need to appreciate that the Lord desires, through His Atonement and by the power of the Holy Ghost, to enliven us—not only to guide but also to strengthen and heal us." It is so amazing how many different things the Atonement can cover in our lives. I now understand the importance of it and how thankful i am that my Savior Jesus Christ was able to fulfill his purpose here in life and selflessly "suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind" (Alma 7:11)for me and everyone around me! I love my Savior and the amazing sacrifice he has made for me just so that i could be with him again. It reminds me of my quote: "I am leaving my family for a short time, so other families can be together forever." That's what Christ has done for us. He left his father just like we all did but he fulfilled his purpose here so we could all be together again! We are all have this amazing opportunity here on earth to do everything we can to learn and to grow so when we return back to Heavenly Father we are prepared and ready for the next step he has for us. The Atonement is here to give us that strength and that power we need so we that we can overcome those burdens and trials we face so we can learn and progress here in this life. I know that as we continue to rely on the Atonement and our Savior Jesus Christ we can get through any trial or burden we have in this life. Mosiah 24:14-15 explains how Christ will lift that burden we have on our back and help us overcome those afflictions we are going through! I invite you to study, pray, ponder, and strive to learn more about the Savior’s Atonement as you assess the trials and the load that each of us carries with us. Many things about the Atonement we simply cannot comprehend with our mortal minds. But many aspects of the Atonement we can and need to understand. I know as we do this we will be comforted in those times of need and the Savior will be there to lift us up.
I love you all and hope you have an amazing week this week!
Love,
Sister Heaton
