Family.
It has been so good to hear from all of you and your lives and adventures! This week in the very hot and sunny Prince George my companion and I had so many miracles! We were able to make the Standards of Excellence of 13 member present lessons and 2 new investigators!!! We taught so many people it was such a blessing. Denise, was doing so well this week but we feel she isn't quite ready for baptism because of her mental problems. She has a hard time remembering things and isn't ready to make the covenant of baptism quite yet. She also hasn't been to church yet. She is amazing and has that desire to get baptized and she is continually reading the Book of Mormon but isn't quite ready. We are also working with Erica still. She has been studying with the Jehovah Witnesses for 10 years. We have taught her the Restoration and the Plan of Salvation but we aren't sure what her real intent with meeting with us is yet. We ran into a former on accident, Dody. We have been seeing her for a while and been trying to support her. She just had an interview in Vancouver to be apart of the Canadian Forces and is coming back soon. Another former we have been meeting with is Phoebe. She is really having a hard time as well at this time in her life and we have been trying to help her through it spiritually and let her know how much she is loved by her Heavenly Father. She likes meeting with us and asked us to come see her tomorrow again. When we met with her on Tuesday we talked and taught a lesson then we left to go to another lesson. While we were in the middle of that lesson she texted us and asked if we would come back to her house and pick up a dead mouse she found. She said she couldn't because of all the germs on it. So guess who got nominated to pick it up. ME!! It wasn't too bad, i did have gloves on (i doubled on gloves just in case) picked it up by the tail and put it in the garbage bag! What an adventure! We have a few new investigators as well, Alyssa, Michelle, and Carol. All amazing and all willing to continue to meet with us and learn more. We are hoping everything goes well with each of them and we are able to teach them as much as we can and hopefully lead them to the waters of baptism. Alyssa is writing a book and is getting it published in about 2 months and she told us about it and it sounds like the best book ever! She is so spiritual and so fun! Michelle is a young mom and told us we could come back and meet with her again. Carol is awesome we met with her and she wants to read the Book of Mormon after we told her what it is about! We have so many other potential investigators that we have appointments with and we are really excited to see again. We also have been trying to get to the know the members better. So we have been trying to visit with as many as we can and the ones we have met with have been really great and fun!
Sister Goldthorpe and I attempted to make sugar cookies for the members that always go to lessons with us. It worked out until i tried to roll them out and it was all crumbly. Life without a mixer is hard but i did it and we were able to cut out some dog, cat and chicken shapes. That's all they had at the dollar store!
We went on Exchanges on Friday to Vanderhoof. I got to go back to Vanderhoof! That was a good experience! I saw a bear!!!! We were on our way to Fort St. James. We think it was a grizzly bear! But now i want to see more! Its like an addiction. I am still waiting to see a moose! But it will come soon enough! I was with Sister Williams it was a lot of fun. Except all of their plans for the day fell through but that is what back up plans are for! They have saved my companion and I so much. We went to visit this investigator they have in the hospital, his leg was amputated. We were joking that he would be there since he has no where else to go and guess what!! He wasn't there. We went and saw this other guy in the hospital and we tried to sing a Child's Prayer for him. He stopped us halfway through and told us we needed to practice but it still made him happy.
Family i have a problem with walking!!! I trip, fall, roll my ankle at least one or 2 times a day!! I ended up rolling my ankle on exchanges but i walked it off and prayed for strength and it stopped hurting and is just fine now. But it happens all the time! Most of them aren't my fault. There is no such thing as a sidewalk slash flat ground here so that is more than half the problem!
We also had district meeting on Saturday and it was the best one i have been to so far. (i have only been to 2 but still) The spirit was so strong and we learned so much about hope and faith. The STL's taught us about the Culture of our Mission which is following the Savior. Making sure we are letting our missions go through us instead of bouncing off so we can become better missionaries and people and more like Christ. They invited us to pick a Christ like attribute and work on it for a week. Then the Zone Leaders talked to us about how hope leads to faith which leads to action! It was so good! God can't work with us or help us with a lack of faith. He needs us to have faith so he can fulfill his work and receive those miracles that we need as missionaries. We talked about he Army of Helaman in Alma 56, 57, and 58. They were able to show us how this applied to us and missionary work. The Army of Helaman were able to defeat the army of Anitpus because of the faith they had in the Lord and that he was able to deliver them. We need to be like the army of Helaman and work with the power of God. As we put our faith in God we will receive the power we need to overcome fear. Faith in Jesus Christ can help us overcome those doubts and help us see and witness those miracles that will come everyday. He is there to give us that strength and will help us continually overcome those trials and that fear we have. As long as we are continually building and strengthining our faith in Jesus Christ we can do all the things that are required of us! The church is true and is such a blessing in each of our lives! Continue to build your faith and "feast upon the words of Christ" and i know you can get through and do anything! I love you all and pray for you everyday!
Love,
Sister Heaton
